Spannungsfeld A

Spannungsfeld A_englischThe projects located in Spannungsfeld A are devoted to the tension between rulers, elites and the ruled, which oscillates between these two poles. All projects examine strategies that have served to legitimise and stabilise existing configurations of power and domination in the long term. Sacral strategies of legitimation will be examined on the basis of the Imperium Romanum, Mughal India or Tibet between the 16th and 19th centuries. Self-assurance in ritual is shown in the ruler's communication with subordinates or outsiders. Despite all strategies of legitimation, however, the stability of power and rule is always endangered, making it necessary to adapt to changing conditions time and again.
